Boys’ Soccer Farewell

To Boston Latin School Soccer,

Every season, it’s easy to get carried away with wins and losses and postseason victories. As more of you worked your way up to the varsity team, I found more value in our Friday night 3v3 tournaments at team dinners, rap battles on the way to practice, rainy days at the top of Millennium and impromptu soccer tennis while waiting for the bus. This team has continued to develop into more than just a group of boys who know how to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Between the stories of past successes from Coach Jason, senior night speeches and the tales we tell on the soccer bus, our program places tremendous emphasis on memories. Future BLS soccer generations will be telling stories about all of you for years to come. I know I will.

So, fingers crossed that we get to compete together again in Fall 2. If not, I expect to see the whole team playing pickup 5-a-side at Pagel next summer. Don’t give up the Ship.
