Baseball
Last spring, Boston Latin School’s baseball team had an impressive season, composed of 13 wins and only eight losses. This season, they started off with a victory against English High School but recently took a tough loss against Pembroke High School. They hope to bounce back against Cambridge Rindge and Latin School for their third game. Ethan Ocwieja (II) shares, “The team has a lot of talent, and I think we can go further than last year.” The team made it to the playoffs last year but unfortunately lost to Bishop Feehan High School. Still, the team has so much potential for an impressive season and make it further this spring, and hopes are high!
Crew
BLS crew is one of only 19 organizations in the state that offers a three-season rowing program at a public school. Crew is heading into its most involved season, the spring season, marked by more races, nationals and the Ergathon — its most important fundraising event. After using only ergs, which are indoor rowing machines, all winter, the team is excited to get back out on the water in the warm spring weather. In this coming season, BLS Crew strives toward two main goals outlined in their mission statement: achieving the highest rankings possible and excelling competitively, while still fostering a nurturing community for athletes. They have started off strong by recently winning their first race!
Boys’ Lacrosse
Boys’ lacrosse ended the season last year with eight wins and 12 losses. They had a bleak start to their spring season this year, playing against difficult teams like Waltham High School, Malden Catholic High School and Medford High School, where they unfortunately lost. There are, however, high hopes for turning the season around after the strong fight the Wolfpack put up against Malden Catholic High School with a final score of 4-7. They are hoping to bounce back and gain some momentum throughout the rest of this season and possibly beat last year’s record.
Girls’ Lacrosse
The start of spring means the return of girls’ lacrosse. So far, the season seems promising, with the team already accumulating two victories already and only one loss. The positive atmosphere and strong sense of community that the team fosters are apparent to players and spectators alike. Kenzie O’Brien (II) exclaims, “I’m excited that the season finally started, and I’m definitely looking forward to practicing after school with my friends.” We are excited to see how the team continues through the spring season!
Outdoor Track
Outdoor track heads into the spring, preparing for a combination of Dual County League (DCL), junior varsity, freshman and invitational meets. Last year, spring track had a successful season with wins in the girls’ 4×100-meter, boys’ 110-meter hurdles pentathlon, girls’ 800-meter, boys’ 2-mile, girls’ high jump and boys’ long jump pentathlon at the DCL championship. This season, the BLS track team hopes to make progress in helping its athletes improve and beat records. Jared Acevedo (II), the new junior captain of the boys’ sprint and jump team, hopes to set the school record in high jump and long jump. He is excited to go into their first meet with over 150 athletes.
Sailing
The BLS sailing team is off to a strong start this spring, with Elio Kohn (II), Anne Kashiwagi (II) and Charis Neave (II) placing second at the Keelboat Kickoff. This race was especially hectic considering they were facing 30-knot wind gusts! Junior captain Kohn shares, “We have a lot of new sailors, and we hope to build up our team.” The team will continue to strive towards the heights of the past few years. Even in the windy conditions, they appear to be off to a very fast start.
Softball
BLS softball entered this season motivated and determined. Captain Brooke Ryan (II) shares, “There is such a good environment on the team this year, and softball is just starting. I definitely hope we can break some team records by the end of the spring season.” So far, the team is only one game into the season; they faced North Quincy High School, a fierce opponent. That game, unfortunately, ended in a loss, but this year’s team nevertheless displays a huge amount of potential, and they are hopeful for the season ahead and the records they strive to break!
Girls’ Tennis
Last year, girls’ tennis was first in the Division I girls’ tennis power rankings, with an astonishing record of 12 wins and three losses. Their average player rating was 5.2729, which is extremely high on the maximum 7.0 scale. This year, they hope to maintain their success and continue developing as individual players, while fostering a unified team and demonstrating strong sportsmanship. The senior captains are looking forward to ending their last spring on the BLS team with success.
Boys’ Volleyball
Boys’ volleyball is looking forward to this coming season with their first match against Taunton High School. Last year, they maintained a respectable record of nine wins and six losses in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division I as well as two wins and four losses in the DCL. These results provide hope for a promising upcoming season, and they hope to beat last year’s records and excel, growing and improving their skills.
Boys’ Tennis
The boys’ tennis team ended the 2025 spring season ranked 28th in the Division 1 boys’ tennis power rankings, with a slightly low average player rating of 0.9878. They experienced numerous tight matches throughout the spring, and in the postseason state tournament, they were able to climb to the 23rd seed. Their captains for the 2026 season are Luis Bullock Gonzalez (I) and Ethan Tran (I), who hope to lead this team to a strong season. So far, they have started strong by winning their first two games!
