Meet Joanna Lin: everyone’s favorite academic weapon, fashion icon, cat lover and Pilot pen enthusiast. You’ve likely seen her name on the Daily Bulletin or heard her infectious laugh from the recesses of Room 319 or the Band Room. Consider yourself lucky.
Fortunately, I’ve had the opportunity to grow closer to Joanna through many organizations and experiences, including Catapulta, Senior Math Seminar, Senior Dance, Smoke Shop (BBQ) visits, multiple random Ice Spice karaoke sessions and some embarrassing pre-frosh activities we cannot disclose. As a result, I’ve been exposed to many of Joanna’s abundant skills. Not only can she play french horn, basketball and the piano, she can also beatbox, eat up a freestyle rap and skateboard. She can also try her best at volleyball if she doesn’t get distracted by Andrew’s swing set first.
Something that I love about Joanna is how much she commits to absolutely everything she does. In addition to balancing Catapulta, JCL, DECA, a small business and the Argo, she is the most dedicated Poop Map user and the most loyal friend (which is almost as important). She always makes time for her friends, no matter how busy she is or how deep into Production Week we are. Perhaps the only thing she has let down in her life is her side part from sixie year, which is widely mourned to this day.
Some say that Joanna is an old soul. Not only does she order HOT coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts, but she prefers Applebee’s over Olive Garden and probably Sade over Taylor. However, I firmly believe she is a Generation Alpha spy gathering intel for the younger generation because of her Fortnite dances and the stray “SkeeYee”’s she lets loose in the most random situations. Perhaps her behavior is a coping mechanism for the carpal tunnel she has developed from always throwing up finger L’s.
Joanna, you always manage to blow me away with your kindness and ability to handle every situation with grace. It has been so fun to grow up with you these past six years as we turned from cringy sixies to even cringier seniors. Thank you for always having my back and introducing me to the mango smoothie from Tea-Do. In all seriousness, you’re truly a highlight of my BLS career, and I’m so grateful to have been by your side for it all. Can’t wait to watch you go higher than a mother-BLEEP!
